Description

After trying this Easy Sloppy Joe Recipe, you will never go back to the canned sauce. You have the hint of sweetness from the brown sugar, the thickness from the tomato paste, and all the flavor from the spices.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chile powder
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Place ground beef, salt, and black pepper in a medium-size pan over medium to high heat. Cook beef until it's no longer pink, and then drain the fat.
  2. Add diced green bell pepper to the pan and mix for about 1 minute; you want it to soften up a bit.
  3. Then add tomato paste; mix well.
  4. Then add ketchup, yellow mustard, garlic powder, chile powder, brown sugar, and water; mix well.
  5. Bring to a boil, then to a simmer. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes until it thickens.
