Ingredients
2 tablespoons oil (any neutral oil)
Medium onion, diced
2–3 garlic cloves minced
1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
2 bay leafs
28 oz can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 pound spaghetti pasta
1 teaspoon salt (for cooking pasta)
1–2 bay leafs (for cooking pasta)
Instructions
- In a 3-quart pot over medium heat, add oil, wait until it’s hot, then add diced onion, minced garlic, ground pork, and ground beef. Begin browning until fully cooked. If you are using I higher percentage of fat from the ground pork or ground beef, this would be the time to remove it, after it’s been browned.
- Once the ground pork and ground beef are browned and the fat removed, add salt, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, tomato sauce, and tomato paste, and mix well. Bring the pot to a boil and then to a simmer, and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Begin cooking pasta according to the package. To give the pasta great flavor, add a bay leaf and salt to the water while the pasta is cooking; this is optional, but recommended.
- Once the pasta is fully cooked, strain out the water in the sink of your kitchen using a colander.
- Begin plating the spaghetti pasta with the meat marinara sauce, and top it with some Parmesan cheese.
