This Vanilla oatmeal is creamy, thick and the combination of the vanilla with the cinnamon is what makes this recipe stand out from the others.
Ingredients

4 cups water
1 cup milk
2 cups rolling oats
1 cinnamon stick (or 1–2 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
2 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted, it does not matter)
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a 4-quart pot over medium to high heat, place water, milk, rolled oats, cinnamon stick, butter, sugar, and vanilla extract; mix well.
- Bring to a boil, once it comes to a boil, bring it down to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes. While it’s simmering, stir occasionally; this helps it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- You will know when it’s done when it looks creamy and thick.
