My family is always up for any simple pasta dish; whenever I don’t know what to make for dinner tonight and am short on time, they say, “Make pasta.” This lovely, hearty, filling dish makes an excellent dinner for a busy weeknight.

I sometimes try new recipes because my family is a bit picky. So I try not to do it too often because my family will look at me like, “Mom, what are you making?”. But I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a creamy chorizo pasta recipe because chorizo can go with just about anything.

Another easy midweek meal would be my One pot hamburger helper;  it also makes a great one pot pasta recipe.

Other ingredients you can add

Red pepper flakes– These can be added when you add garlic powder and paprika. 

Baby spinach– This can be added at the end with the cheese 

Red bell pepper—After cooking the chorizo, add diced red bell pepper and saute for 2-3 minutes. 

Parmesan cheese– These can be added as a garnish when they’re finished.

Chilli flakes– These can be added when you add garlic powder and paprika. 

Cream cheese– You can add half a block, which is about 4 oz when you add your shredded cheese.  

How do you pair Easy Creamy Pasta with Chorizo?

You can pair this recipe with garlic bread; many grocery stores have French bread cut in half and garlic butter on it. All you have to do is pop it in the oven. Caesar salad is also a great side. Many grocery stores have Caesar salad already prepared in the deli section.

Ingredients

 Oil– Olive, vegetable, avocado, or any neutral oil. 

Longaniza– I like to use longaniza because it’s meatier and less greasy, but you can use any chorizo you choose. 

Milk 

Garlic powder 

Paprika

All-purpose flour   

Pasta– I used penne pasta for this recipe, but you can use any shape of pasta you would like. 

Bay leaf 

Salt 

Instructions

1. Add 8 cups of water, salt, and bay leaf to a 4-quart pot. Bring water to a boil, then add pasta and bring to a simmer. Cook for 8-10 minutes until pasta is al dente.

2. Add oil over medium-high heat While pasta is cooking in another 4-quart pot. Then, add chorizo and break it apart by hand with a cooking spoon; continue breaking the chorizo apart and cooking until browned.

3. Add milk, heavy cream, garlic powder, and paprika, mix well, 

4. Mix all-purpose flour and water in a small bowl, mix well, and add to the sauce for 5 minutes. 

5. Once the pasta is done, drain and add to the sauce; mix well and serve.

10 oz Longaniza or any chorizo of your choice

2 1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 pound pasta

12 bay leaf

2 teaspoon salt
