Description

These Mozzarella Sticks do not compare to the frozen ones. The mix of breadcrumbs and cornmeal gives them a great crunch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 10 oz package mozzarella sticks
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 11 1/2 cups oil (for frying )

Instructions

  1. Place bread crumbs, cornmeal, salt, pepper, and dried parsley in a small bowl; mix well and set aside.
  2. Place flour in a small bowl, and set aside.
  3. Place eggs in a small bowl, scramble the eggs, and set them aside.
  4. Unwrap mozzarella sticks and cut them in half. You will have a total of 24 sticks.
  5. Make an assembly line with the small bowls, starting with the flour, then the eggs, and then the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Dip one of the mozzarella sticks into the flour, completely coat it, then dip it into the eggs, completely coat it, dip into the bread crumb mixture, completely coat it and set it aside.
  7. Continue with step 6 with the rest of the mozzarella sticks.
  8. Once all mozzarella sticks are coated, place them in the freezer for 30 minutes. This helps them to firm up for frying.
  9. Heat oil in a medium pan over medium to high heat; once it's hot, place a few mozzarella sticks at a time, fry for 30 seconds to a minute until golden brown.
