Description

This Simple Cranberry Apple Sauce Recipe is made with five ingredients. It’s tangy, with just enough sweetness from the apple and brown sugar.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 medium apple, chopped
  • 12 oz bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a 2 quart pot over medium to high heat. Place orange juice, chopped apple, and brown sugar; mix well. Bring to a boil, then to a simmer, and simmer for 3 minutes. You want to cook the apple a little bit.
  2. Then add the cranberries and grated ginger (optional), mix well, and simmer for 8 minutes. The cranberries will begin to pop.
  3. Once the cranberries are cooked, turn off the stove. With the back of your spoon, begin to mash the cranberries. It will look a little runny, but once it begins to cool, it will start to thicken

Notes

  • Place any remaining cranberry apple sauce into an airtight container and in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
