- 3 lbs potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1/2 cup butter (or 1 stick )
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- In a 5-7 quart pot, fill 3/4 of the pot with water, place lid on top. And place on the stove over high heat, bring to a boil.
- While water is coming up to a boil, peel and cut 3 pounds of potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
- Once the water comes to a boil, remove the lid and place potatoes in the pot. Lower down heat to a simmer, let simmer for about 15 mins until potatoes are fully cooked.
- When the fork goes through the potato easily, the potatoes are done.
- Drain potatoes from water into a colander, place potatoes back into the pot.
- Add butter.
- Then add milk and 1/2 & 1/2, mix well.
- Add salt and garlic powder, mix well.
- With a potato masher mash the potatoes, until desired consistency. If you want it extra smooth use an electric mixer.
- Adjust any of the seasonings or milk, if needed.
Notes
- If you like your potatoes smooth but with some texture, keep the skin on the potato.
