Grill Cheese Sandwich with Sautéed Pepper’s and Onion’s

What make’s a great grill cheese sandwich?

It’s sourdough bread, I love the taste of sourdough bread it’s sour and tangy. It make’s the perfect bread for grill cheese sandwich’s because it’s sturdy enough to withhold the veggies, cheese and butter without getting soggy.

Adding sautéed pepper’s and onion’s is a great way to add vegetable’s without realizing it. I’ve tried adding tomatoes to the grill cheese sandwich’s before but my family didn’t care for it. I do know that my family really like’s sautéed peppers and onions so I decided to add them to the grill cheese sandwich’s.

They turned out to be a great hit, also it’s a great lunch or dinner idea because it does not take long to make. The pepper’s and onion’s can be chopped ahead of time, all you have to do is built and grill them in a pan.

In order to get the bread toasty and crispy I like to add a little bit of coconut oil to the pan and with the butter on the bread it gives it a good crisp.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Sautéed Pepper’s and Onion’s

Ingredient’s

  • 1 small red bell pepper
  • 1 small yellow bell pepper
  • 1 small red onion (or any type of onion you prefer)
  • 1 lb Loaf sourdough bread
  • 1-2 16oz package of sliced cheddar cheese
  • Butter (to spread on bread)
  • Coconut oil ( to pour in pan)

Direction’s

  1. Chop bell pepper’s and onion into strips.
  2. In a pan with a little coconut oil sauté bell pepper’s and onion for 3-5 mins until translucent then set aside.
  3. In another pan heat a little coconut oil.
  4. Brush bread with butter and place butter side down on to the pan.
  5. Place 2 slices of cheese on the bread, then some of the peppers and onion mix, then another slice of cheese.
  6. Butter another slice of bread, place on top of sandwich with unbuttered side down.
  7. Grill on one side, once brown flip and grill til brown on the other side.
  8. Repeat until all done.
