How to Naturally Sweeten your Yogurt

Plain yogurt with honey and berries

When I buy yogurt, I like to buy plain yogurt and sweeten it myself. It just tastes so much better when you add your own sweetener. Here I share with you How I Naturally Sweeten my Yogurt.

If you look behind the packages of flavored yogurt, you will see many other additives that I bet you can’t even pronounce. Well at least I know I can’t pronounce them.

One thing I’ve noticed is plain yogurt tends to be cheaper than flavored yogurt. The yogurt’s I do not like are those Gogurts, the one that comes in a tube, but I know the kids like them. When you have 5 kids and in one package only comes with 6 yogurts, economically does not make sense.

The other day a bought a big bucket of plain yogurt for about $5. For 5 kids it was 3 rounds of yogurt as a snack, which is great. If I were to buy the Gogurts they would be gone with just 1 round and the price would be about $3.

How do I naturally sweeten up my yogurt?

I use raw honey, mixed berry puree and top it off with some fresh berries.

Toppings for yogurt are endless, here are a few ideas

  • Jam
  • Granola
  • Bananas
  • Dates
  • Nuts

Some of my kids don’t like honey so I add simple syrup to their yogurt. You can find the recipe for the simple syrup here Delicious Mixed Berry Lemonade.
