Description
This is the most easy and flavorful shredded chicken you can make. Cooking the chicken in the broth is a game changer. The onion, garlic, salt, and peppercorns give it that extra flavor.

- 2–3 pounds chicken breast
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 large onion, cut in quarters
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon whole peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- In a 5-quart pot, place chicken breast, broth, onion, garlic cloves, whole peppercorns, and kosher salt.
- Place on the stovetop over high heat, boil, and then simmer for 40 minutes until the chicken breast shreds easily.
- Place cooked chicken in a bowl. Once it’s cooled enough to touch, shred the chicken by hand or use a mixer.

You can keep it in the freezer for extended storage for up to six months as long as it’s placed in a bag such as a ziplock bag. Before closing the ziplock bag, squeeze out as much air as possible.
