Ingredients

  • Chicken breast
  • Chicken broth– You can use water if you don’t have chicken broth but using the broth is what gives it that great flavor.
  • Onion
  • Garlic cloves
  • Whole peppercorns– You can use ground black pepper if you don’t have whole peppercorns. You would need about two teaspoons.
  • Kosher Salt– You can use regular table salt if you don’t have kosher salt. You would need about two teaspoons.

Instructions

  1. In a 5-quart pot, place chicken breast, broth, onion, garlic cloves, whole peppercorns, and kosher salt.
  2. Place on the stovetop over high heat, boil, and then simmer for 40 minutes until the chicken breast shreds easily.
  3. Place cooked chicken in a bowl. Once it’s cooled enough to touch, shred the chicken by hand or use a mixer.
