Why do you need your milk and eggs to be at room temperature?
Having your milk and eggs at room temperature helps your baked goods become fluffy. When your milk and eggs are cold, your baked goods will be denser.
Which is the best way to bring your milk and eggs to room temperature?
The best way to bring your dairy products to room temperature is to leave them on your counter. If I plan to make any baked goods, I first take out my dairy products to slowly come to room temperature. About 1 hour ahead of time seems to work for me.
How to bring your milk and eggs to room temperature when you are short on time?
- Microwave your milk in 10 second increments, until it’s no longer cold. After each 10 seconds check the milk by inserting your finger to check the temperature. Be careful you do not want the milk to be hot.
- Place eggs in a small bowl and cover completely luke warm tap water. Let them sit in the water for a few minutes.
