Here I would like to share with you my version of Easy Tuna Melts. The tuna salad has minimal ingredients, and sometimes less is better. Trust me they are delicious and irresistible no one can turn one down.
Tuna melts are kind of a no-brainer, just pre-pare you tuna salad place in between two slices of bread, and toast on a skillet. But everyone makes their’s different.
Can you believe I have never made these for the kids before this? Don’t know what took me so long to make these because they are super easy to put together.
The other day when I made the tuna melts, the kids were so surprised how good they were. And told me “mom you have to make these again, it is SO good”.
I make my melts just the same as I make my grilled cheese sandwiches. With most tuna melts they add cheese to it, but I don’t I keep it simple. The key ingredient for great tuna melts is sourdough bread. In order for your sandwich to keep its shape you need to use a sturdy bread.

Let’s start making our melts
We start by making the tuna salad
- In a medium bowl, place drained tuna, and with a fork break apart.
- In the same bowl add diced celery, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and mayo; mix well, set aside.
- Heat a skillet med to high heat.
- On one side of sliced sourdough bread, brush melted butter, and place butter side down onto the skillet.
- Add ½ cup of tuna salad, and two slices of tomato.
- Brush melted butter on another slice of sourdough bread; place unbuttered side on top of the tuna salad.
- Once the bread is toasted, flip and toasts the other side.
- Repeat steps 4-7 until all are done.

- 2– 12 oz can white tuna in water (drain water from can )
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1/4 cup lemon juice (or juice from 2 lemons )
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2/3 cup mayo
- 10 slices sourdough bread
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 10 tomato slices
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, place drained tuna, and with a fork break apart.
- In the same bowl add diced celery, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and mayo; mix well, set aside.
- Heat a skillet over medium to high heat.
- On one side of a sliced sourdough bread, brush melted butter, and place butter side down onto the skillet.
- Add ½ cup of tuna salad, and two slices of tomato.
- Brush melted butter on another slice of sourdough bread; place unbuttered side on top of the tuna salad.
- Once the bread is toasted, flip and toasts the other side.
- Repeat steps 4-7 until all are done.
