This Simple Cranberry Apple Sauce Recipe is made with five ingredients. It’s tangy, with just enough sweetness from the apple and brown sugar.
I can not believe Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Out of all holidays, Thanksgiving has always been my favorite. I love when my family gathers and enjoys a meal without any interruptions.
Growing up a traditional Mexican, we had a pretty traditional feast when it came to Thanksgiving. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. And now, realizing it, the cranberry sauce was from the can. I am not knocking down cranberry sauce from the can; everyone has their preference. But I have to say making your cranberry sauce is super simple and tastes so much better.
How to use this sauce?
It is called a sauce, but it is more of a jam consistency. It can be used anywhere you would use jam.
It can be used on top of ice cream, warm or cold.
It can be used on top of turkey, chicken, or pork.
Can this sauce be made ahead of time?
Yes, it can be made ahead of time. After making it let it cool completely before storing it. Store it in an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.

Ingredients
Orange juice
Apple– You can use any red apple; I used a gala apple for this recipe. When chopping the apple, you want it to be small pieces.
Brown sugar– If you don’t have brown sugar, you can also use regular cane sugar.
Fresh cranberries– These are sold in 12 oz bags.
Ginger-Fresh grated ginger is what you want, but this is optional.
Instructions
1. In a 2-quart pot over medium to high heat. Place orange juice, chopped apple, and brown sugar; mix well. Bring to a boil, then to a simmer, and simmer for 3 minutes. You want to cook the apple a little bit.
2. Add the cranberries and grated ginger (optional), mix well, and simmer for 8 minutes. The cranberries will begin to pop.
3. Once the cranberries are cooked, turn off the stove. With the back of your spoon, begin to mash the cranberries. It will look a little runny, but once it begins to cool, it will start to thicken
Notes
