Simple Meatball Recipe

I like combining beef and pork for the meatballs because it gives them a soft texture. I’ve done some with all-beef, but it seems to be a bit tough. Also, I have done all-pork, but it seems to be a bit tough. This combination seems to work great for these meatballs.

Another way to cook meatballs

  • After they are browned, finish cooking them in marinara sauce. In a medium saucepan, add your sauce and meatballs; bring the sauce to a boil, then to a simmer; cook for 20 minutes. Until fully cooked and the temperature inside reaches 165 degrees. Meatballs cooked in the marinara sauce can be used for spaghetti and meatballs or made into meatball subs.

Let’s start making a Simple Meatball Recipe

Ingredients

  • Ground beef- I like to use the one with the least fat percentage because ground pork has plenty of fat. But you can use whatever you like.
  • Ground pork
  • Salt
  • Garlic powder
  • Black pepper
  • Dried oregano
  • Plain bread crumbs– The bread crumbs are a filler that helps prevent the meatballs from drying out. You can also use Italian bread crumbs if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Egg- The egg is the glue that keeps the meatballs together.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place ground beef and ground pork in a medium bowl; mix until well combined.
  3. Mix well with salt, garlic powder, black pepper, dried oregano, plain bread crumbs, and parmesan cheese in a small bowl.
  4. Mix the spice mixture into the ground meat mixture; mix until well combined.
  5. Add the egg to the meat mixture and mix until well.
  6. Begin shaping the meat mixture into small meatballs. It is unnecessary, but I like to weigh my meatballs because I can never get them the same shape. Considering them to be about 1.5 oz, you will get about 28 meatballs.
  7. Place a little oil into a medium pan over medium to high heat. Begin browning the meatballs for 1-2 minutes on each side. You are not fully cooking them at this step; you are only browning them from the outside.
  8. In a 9 x 13 pan, place browned meatballs in the oven; bake for 15-20 minutes until the center of the meatball reaches 165 degrees.
