Making Slow Cooker Baked Potatoes is a life changer. The potatoes come out fully cooked and fluffy, perfect for adding any of your favorite toppings.
Baked potatoes are always a good hearty meal but waiting for them to bake can be frustrating, well, at least it is for me. I think it is because I’m in a hurry to put dinner on the table a lot of the time, and I always want to make something delicious.
Ever since I have made baked potatoes in the slow cooker I will no longer make baked potatoes in the oven; making them in the slow cooker has really been a life-changer. It has been so easy to place them in the slow cooker and forget about them, and the next thing you know, they are done.
Here are some topping ideas
Butter
Sour cream and chives
Shredded cheese– Mozzarella, cheddar, pepper jack, or any type you like.
Tips
- The potatoes can be pre-pared the night before. Wrap potatoes in aluminum foil and place them in your slow cooker, in the morning turn on your the slow cooker and by dinner it’s done.
- If weekly meal preps are your thing this one would be a great make-ahead.
- The size of the potatoe does not matter. I have cooked the really big potatoes and the medium potatoes, the time is still the same. It takes 7-8 hours on low or 4-5 hours on high.
Let’s start making Slow Cooker Baked Potatoes
Ingredients
- Potatoes– I like to use russet or idaho potatoes.
Instructions
- Wash potatoes thoroughly, dry them, and coat lightly with oil.
- Once all the potatoes are coated with oil, wrap each potato in foil paper.
- Place wrapped potatoes in the slow cooker and cook for 7-8 hours on low or 4-5 hours on high. To check if the potatoes are done, poke them with a fork or knife through the foil paper, and if it easily goes through, they are done.
