It was an actual time when I was going to make chili dogs for dinner, and I was short on time, but I really did not want to buy the Hormel can of chili. And that’s when I came up with this recipe.

How to store

How to reheat
- If using a microwave, place chili in a microwave-safe bowl and add a couple of tablespoons of water. Heat on high for one-minute increments and mix the chili in between until heated through.
- The best way to reheat would be over the stovetop. Place chili in a pot and add a couple of tablespoons of water over medium to high heat until heated through.
Substitutions
- You can use ground turkey or ground chicken if you don’t have ground beef or don’t care for ground beef.

- Ground Beef– I like to use 90/10 percent fat. But you can use any type you prefer.
- Chili Seasoning– Here, you can use any brand of chili seasoning. I see that even the store brands have their own chili seasoning.
- Tomato sauce
Instructions
- Add oil to a pan over medium to high heat and wait for it to heat up. Then add your ground beef and break it apart with a meat chopper.
- Cook the ground beef for 4-5 minutes until it’s no longer pink. Depending on how much fat ground beef has, remove any excess fat at this time.
- Once fully cooked, add your chili seasoning and mix well. Then add the can of tomato sauce and the cup of water, mix well, bring to a boil, then to a simmer for 10-15 minutes.
