Let’s start making Spicy Barbecue Meatballs

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • Breadcrumbs- The breadcrumbs are used as a filler, so the meatballs are not so dry.
  • Salt
  • Garlic powder
  • Chipotle powder
  • Ground beef– I like to use a lower-fat ratio for this particular recipe because I don’t want much fat released into the sauce. I would suggest keeping it between 90/10 and 93/7 fat ratio.
  • Eggs– These are used as a binder, which keeps the meatballs together to keep their shape.

Sauce

  • Barbecue sauce– Use your favorite barbecue sauce.
  • Brown Sugar

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, place bread crumbs, salt, garlic powder, and chipotle powder; mix and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, place ground beef and massage it for 2-3 minutes. This helps the meatballs soften and not be too tough.
  3. Then add the breadcrumb mixture to the ground beef; mix well.
  4. Add eggs one at a time; mix well after each egg.
  5. With a 1 1/2 tablespoon scoop, scoop out the meatballs and place them onto a plate; set aside.
  6. Place barbecue sauce and brown sugar in a 3-4 quart pot over medium to high heat; mix well.
  7. Place meatballs in the pot, bring to a boil, then down to a simmer; cover with lid for 20 minutes until the temperature inside the meatballs reaches 165 degrees.
