What is Semi Scratched?

Semi Scratched is my space to share my love of home cooking with you and how I feed my big family healthy semi-from-scratch meals (3/4 of the time). I have not met anyone in person that shares the same passion as I do, and everyone I know does not want to hear me talk about food. So here is my outlet to share with others the same passion for food as I do (I know they’re out there somewhere).

I strive to cook from scratch most of the time. My family knows me very well; if there is something they feel like eating I find a way to make part of it from scratch. If it’s spaghetti, I’ll try to make the sauce and breadsticks. If it’s sandwiches, I’ll try to make the bread and so forth.

In this time of our lives, it’s not always easy to cook from scratch every night. Whether it’s work, family, commitments, or just daily lives, it takes time away from our kitchen. Cooking from scratch can be a little more time-consuming, especially when you are short on time and everyone is yelling at you, “is it almost done” It can be discouraging. I’ve learned that a meal does not have to be elaborate, nor does each ingredient have to be nutritionally dense. You would have to find a balance that works with your family. And what works with my family is 70% made from scratch and 30% all other things (processed foods and fast foods).

Here I will be sharing the semi-from-scratch recipes that I make for my family. You can incorporate it with your family in hopes that you learn something new or anything that I’ve shared here. Also, I’m only here to share, not teach, and sharing is how we learn.
