Soaked Oatmeal Breakfast Bars

When you make regular oatmeal do you soak your oats?

Oats are a whole grain, it’s best to soak your oats before cooking them. It is easier on the stomach to digest. By soaking your oats you are also cooking them slowly and will retain more of its nutrients when they are cooked.

Even with regular rolling oats, soaking them not only do you have more health benefits, it also cuts on the cooking time.

It took me a while to figure this out especially with steel cut oats, I didn’t know you have to soak the oats before you cook them, no wonder they took forever to cook.

Here I’ve made these Soaked Oatmeal Breakfast Bars, they are easy to make, they taste just like a bowl of oatmeal in a bar. These are perfect for busy mornings for the kids, husband and yourself.

  1. Good Recipe, I have made it three times now. First time came out almost identical to your pictures. I then modified it a little by fermenting the oats with a little bit of my sourdough starter, and leaving the batter mixture to sit for about 45 mins to let the gluten develop. Turned out nice and fluffy. I also left it in the oven while it cooled, but that’s just me knowing my oven.
