Fall is finally here, and the weather is SLOWLY changing, but I will take it. It is also apple season, which means it’s time to make from scratch cinnamon applesauce.

Easy Made from Scratch Cinnamon Applesauce

The first time I made applesauce, I was shocked at how easy it was to make. All it is is cooked apples in water and mash them, add some flavor with the cinnamon, and that’s it.

You know those seasons in life where you buy a few apples, and they are gone on the same day? Then the next time you go to the store, you buy double what you bought last time, and they get forgotten. So what ends up happening is you throw them away. It always hurts whenever I have to do that.

Making applesauce saves those apples. I get it when the apple starts getting soft; they are no longer appetizing, even for me.

What can you do with applesauce?

  • It can be used in baking by substituting for butter or oil in your baking recipe.

Here’s a different method to make applesauce

Another cooking method to make your applesauce is in the slow cooker. You do just the same as making it on the stovetop. Peel and slice your apples; you can leave the skin on. Place apples, cinnamon, and water in the slow cooker and cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Once the apples are fully cooked, mash them with a potato masher or immersion blender.
